jakebe: (Happy Bad Rabbit!)
Last night I went out to a bar for the first time in maybe four or five years. [livejournal.com profile] silver_raccoon works as a bouncer (yes, a bouncer) for a gay bar off-Dickson St., so I thought I'd see what it was like. Met a pretty neat bartender named Sarah, a coworker named Raymond (who, between you and me, is the most tone-deaf black man ever, and that's a lot coming from me) and out of nowhere Delphi, Stark, Thames and Twigmouse showed up! Also, Daro. :)

It was a lot of fun, I bought drinks for the experience of buying overpriced drinks, and we all hung out and spazzed for a while. It was like an episode of Friends! Or...really, like one of those really sensitive dramas on the WB. Basically, a lot of stuff got hashed out, I kind of realized what I've been doing for the past month (distancing myself from people so that leaving is easier) and vowed to reverse it. Mostly, I think I can do it; I plan on being pretty social for the next two months locally, but I'm still going to take time to write and read and study and such, because I really want to.

So, long story short, I won't be online quite as much (not that I'm really online a lot these days anyway) for the next little while. In fact, I probably won't be on much at all. I'll try to keep in touch with e-mail and through here at least. :)

In other news, 24 hours from now I'll probably be in Kansas City helping Geemo celebrate his graduation/birthday/moving-in-with-Seph and hanging out with a lot of cool people. I'm severely looking forward to it!

One of the things I'd like to do is cook a lot more. One of the big things that've been keeping me from doing that is, well...the kitchen. We don't keep on top of washing dishes and it gets to be a little difficult to find things (and room) when everything's dirty and scattered. I have two ways to go about this. One is just do dishes every day, or...at the very least, more often than we do them. The other is a bit more seperatist and doesn't allow cooking for others quite so much, but I've done it before and it worked pretty well. That's to just keep a bowl and plate and pot and pan and spoon and knife and fork in the room, take them out when I need to use them, wash them, dry them, put them back. I think what I'll end up doing is trying the first option and then falling into the second one for a variety of reasons, laziness being the best one. ;) We'll see how it goes.

Not much else to report. The bosses are away for the day, which pretty much leaves me and a couple of coworkers to mind the store for the day. No big deal; I've got plenty to keep me busy, and I *could* spaz about it, but no one wants to hear me go on about books, do they? ... Didn't think so. :)
