Hey there, all...

Full day today. First, went to Gator Golf with Sherri. They were in the middle of re-carpeting more holes in that new kinda...easter grass turf stuff they're using. I don't know how many people play minigolf much beyond the passing fancy, but surface really does a number on the way you hit the ball. Just when we pretty much knew how to shoot every hole, they re-carpet and *everything* changes. Beyond that it was hot and sticky and I was distracted by jelly beans (don't ask). The result: I got the win, but my score was a less-than-respectable 46. That would have never flown with [livejournal.com profile] stickypawz or [livejournal.com profile] aubrin.

We went out to eat lunch at Lenny's Sub Shop, right near the mall. The one right across the street from the Bookshop closed down on us last weekend, so this is the only one in town, and man was I jonesin' for a Lenny's sub.

Easter Egg

Hey there, all...

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and shoulder-pats and whatnot. Sometimes I feel like I'm really unappreciative of the folks that really do care about me, and I'm sorry about that. With depression, you almost always choose to focus on what you want and don't have instead of all the great stuff staring you right in the face.

Random stuff today! A coworker by the name of John bought me a medallion from the Royal Circle of Friends of the World, which is one of the earliest black organizations in America. They were founded in 1909...and he let me have it on one condition...that I study up on it and see what I could find. Heh, and the hunt is on. :)

Speaking of black people, I found out that we no longer have the stranglehold on the biggest minority slot; we've apparently fallen to Hispanics. I'm not really sure what this means, if anything, but I do feel like a chapter on minority history has closed or something. ;) Maybe people won't make such a big fuss over Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson any more, which would definitely be a good thing. And maybe this will pave the way for *other* minorities to get noticed, too. At the risk of sounding particularly insensitive, the black community hasn't really handled the limelight particularly well since the 80s.

I have an idea for two t-shirts that I'm seriously thinking of having made: the first one'll just have "I (heart) chicken" on the front of it, and the second one will have a slice of watermelon with a bite taken out of it under one of those 'don't' circles. Around it will "Back up off my watermelon." I figure I could start a whole line of politically incorrect t-shirts. :) Better living through fashion!

Every time I get curious about the time these days, I immediately stick a hand in my pocket, only to remember my pocketwatch died in service several months ago. The other one I have, a present from Wendell/Lou, has a busted hinge or something, and I really don't know how to fix it, so it's been retired to my desk. I'm thinking I really do need another pocketwatch. In a couple of weeks, when I have the extra cash, I'll check eBay for something cool.

Speaking of antiquated fashion accessories, I'm really digging suspenders these days. :) I borrowed some from Joey for Bernadette's wedding reception, and I just...liked the way they looked. I actually didn't wear a vest just to show them off, and if only you knew how much I liked vests...that'd be saying a lot. ;)

I really, *really* need to start looking into new clothes. All of the pants I own (except suits) I've had for like...six or seven years, and they're getting really thread-bare. While I do like the whole bohemian ideal of tattered clothing, it's getting a bit ridiculous. ;) I'm torn between going the whole...quirky-dress/old man route, or just getting various black items and leaving it at that. Either way...hmm. I dunno, we'll see.

Wendell/Lou sure has perverted me when it comes to my tastes in clothing. I'll always be grateful to him for that. :)

Katy's found a guy to replace her for the Lit room, and he'll probably be taking over Poetry as well, which is good.
