Hey there, all...
Full day today. First, went to Gator Golf with Sherri. They were in the middle of re-carpeting more holes in that new kinda...easter grass turf stuff they're using. I don't know how many people play minigolf much beyond the passing fancy, but surface really does a number on the way you hit the ball. Just when we pretty much knew how to shoot every hole, they re-carpet and *everything* changes. Beyond that it was hot and sticky and I was distracted by jelly beans (don't ask). The result: I got the win, but my score was a less-than-respectable 46. That would have never flown with
stickypawz or
aubrin.
We went out to eat lunch at Lenny's Sub Shop, right near the mall. The one right across the street from the Bookshop closed down on us last weekend, so this is the only one in town, and man was I jonesin' for a Lenny's sub.

We went out to eat lunch at Lenny's Sub Shop, right near the mall. The one right across the street from the Bookshop closed down on us last weekend, so this is the only one in town, and man was I jonesin' for a Lenny's sub. <:) It turns out they just...shut the place down and didn't tell anyone they were doing it..not even the workers. A bunch of folks showed up Monday morning and the place was gutted. Wouldn't that be a shitty way to find out you were out of a job?
Went to Passages to pick up some inscence and a few other things for a ritual that I'd like to do tomorrow evening (thanks a lot, Dave, for the suggestion). Though the Summer Solstice is technically over by a couple days, I thought I might try...well, recognizing the feel in the air and noting the winding down of life, towards the ultimate harvest and then slow decline into slumber. I'm really enthralled with the process, especially the latter stages of it. <:)
After that, a wedding reception for Bernadette. I really don't like weddings because...well, they're too formalized. Too much pomp and circumstance, so much so that the...meaning behind the ritual is lost. No one...gets what this really is, it feels like. Bernadette was so happy, though, and it was nice seeing everyone reveling in the moment. Katy and Bernadette are heading off for new directions, and they'll be leaving the Bookshop pretty soon, and I'll miss them. Especially Bernadette. She's been my utmost confidant for months now.
Anyway, I met this couple there that seemed pretty interesting. I decided to smoke a pipe after dinner out in the courtyard during a dance, and this fellow came up to me and told me how wonderful my tobacco smelled. It was an odd, but neat compliment, and I think I might have inspired him to pick up the habit of pipe-smoking again. <:) I'm pretty sure I'm going to hell for that. Anyway, I met him and his wife, who it turned out, met Bernadette by running over her dog. They felt really bad about it, did everything they could to save her, and in the process became friends with the family. Weird. :)
Oh, and I learned how to two-step. One step closer to having my Black Power Union card revoked. :D
Finally, came home and saw About Schmidt, which is a pretty slow movie for Jack Nicholson, but very effecting. I was unexpectedly broken at the very end. Not much of a surprise, but I won't go into it because it might ruin it for someone.
And I can't find a single person to go see Hulk with, but we've already got a group together to see the next Charlie's Angels movie. <:) I guess people want to see Cameron Diaz in skin-tight stuff a lot more than they want to see a half-naked green guy smash stuff. Even though he's 15 feet tall. I don't get people sometimes.
Now, I'm tired, and I'm trying not to think too much. I had a pretty good day and I don't want to spoil it. So I think I'll go to bed.
