Hey there, all...

Today, I sold 39 shamrocks, bringing my total to 617. I was actually really surprised at the output...but then, the college kids are going on spring break, so their mood is better, and that means they're more willing to give up something.

Not much happened today. Arkelin woke me up (this makes the third day in a row I've been woken up by someone) so we could do my prelude for his Vampire campaign, WarFish Retina. Yes, we like naming things very absractly. ;)

As much as I hate the way most people run Vampire (and admittedly, White Wolf has done little to nothing to stop the run of angsty, twinky kinder-goth posing that's dominated the game since...well, birth), Arlekin's doing a good job. It's almost like most of the Kindred are mellowed out with a really good batch of pot-laced blood or something. :)

I'm playing a Malkavian by the name of Sebastian Gregor. He's about 102 years old, but he was Embraced when he was only 22. He was an artist, rather avant-garde for his time, and he has a taste for the surreal and macabre. Of course, this didn't really take in 1900's London, so within 5 years he ended penniless and increasingly neurotic and possessive of his paintings.

To make a long story short, a fascinated Malkavian stole his artwork, leading Sebastian to attack the general London populace and dump a bratwurst vendor's wares all over him. After being beaten by the 'bobbies', he was rescued and then Embraced. He then ate her maid. :9

Meanwhile, "The Nameless" is pretty much dead...I couldn't get the gamers devoted to actually making it on Sundays. On Saturday nights, most of them would come up to me with something else they had to do. Granted, work's pretty important, but...advance notice would be nice once in a while.

Besides, it was mainly a botched job. I went too deep with the weirdness and complex plotlines, and that just doomed the entire Chronicle from the start. We had a few good sessions, but for the most part it was just dicking players around. ;) I really ought to learn how to build up to the point where the characters suddenly find themselves in a David Lynch, not just drop them off in Weirdville and see how they fare.

Part of what I really need to learn to do is make the ordinary interesting...find a way to make the seemingly...mundane things fun to role-play. Way too many people only like things when they have super-powers, or when they have an arsenal of magic at their disposal to blast away the baddies. And yeah...that's cool, too. But what really gets me going is all the minutiae of everyday events. The little gestures, the small nuances that can make anything special.

One of the best RPs I've ever done was with someone who I could just...put away groceries with, and we'd find ways to make it cool. He had a real knack for making really well-rounded characters when he felt up to it, and I really adored that. I don't think I've really found someone I've meshed that well with since.

Anyway, I'll probably be putting together a Mutants Down Under game for the local furs in the meantime. I've got two people who would definitely play, and they're both fairly stable people, so I have no problems including them. I just need two more, and I'm set.

I'll also be putting together an on-line World of Darkness game once work calms down and I'm actually in a writing groove; right now, I feel I have to focus specifically on allotting time for writing, or else I'll never do it. So that's going to eat up a lot of my time for the next few weeks. That...and deciding on what Universities to apply to.

When I get back, I'll be checking out Portland and the Twin Cities through various websites, and I'll probably pick up an admissions packet from the University of Arkansas. I can do this. Sure I can.

OK, this is the perfect example of how my mind works...

Leaving the Giant's Club today, I ran out back and into three pretty well-known furs. One said hi and started a conversation with me...the other two basically ignored me in favor of the 'nice' one's breasts.

So, am I satisfied with the fact that this one actually pretty cool fur starts up a convo? No, I'm pissed that the other two were rude enough not to even address my presence. The fact that this one nice guy did only emphasized the fact that they were blatantly ignoring me.

And now that I've admitted that to the world, I feel better. Thank you nice fur. You probably don't read this, but thank you anyway. ;)
