I'm stuck up in the second floor of the Bookshop with a coworker or two, and the power is holding. I don't know how long that will last though; there have been a few loud booms in the distance and the lights aren't on just a few blocks away. I've got maybe two hours of battery life left in the laptop, but I really don't know if the wifi'll hold once everything's out.
It's really dark in here. We're afraid to turn on the lights because it'll attract them maybe. They had overrun the first floor before we even knew what was happening; I had to watch a lot of people who had wished me well just a few minutes before get their necks bitten out. I don't think I've ever seen people so afraid.
I'm really ashamed to say that I didn't help anyone out; as soon as I saw the first few customers get attacked I booked it for the elevator and never looked back. Upstairs I heard screaming for a solid fifteen minutes; after that there was just the clatter of blind rummaging and the moans of the walking dead.
I can't even believe I'm typing this seriously. What the fuck. Walking dead? What the fuck?!?
Ryan called me on the cell, which is amazingly getting reception still. God, I'm so thankful for that. He's holed up in his office on the fifth floor with a few coworkers, and they've sealed off all the stairwells and fire exits, and locked all the elevators. Do zombies even know how to work elevators? I am so relieved he's OK. Knowing he is is the only thing keeping me together.
joshuwain and
rozberk and
danruk are OK, but we haven't heard from
unclekage or
momentrabbit since earlier today. My thoughts are with them all.
susandeer, here's to hoping B. and P. arrive safely. How in the world are you guys even navigating the streets there? Here in Mountain View they're choked with cars and bodies.
The worst part is all the children.
Shit, power just went out, I need to post this now, hope it goes through
