Hey there...

First I'm really quiet and now I can't shut up. Heh, go fig.

Every Friday I get paid, and every Friday I blow a significant chunk of my paycheck on books. Here's a sample of the typical haul I've got:

The Road Before Us: 100 Gay Black Poets
Pissing in the Snow
and Ozark Tales and Superstitions by Vance Randolph
The Art of Storytelling by Marsh Cassady
You Are Worthless by those Onion guys
Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury
Remnants #4 - 6 by K.A. Applegate

The Road Before Us I got out of sheer morbid fascination: how many books are you going to find about GAY BLACK POETS?!?! I read a little bit of it, though, and unfortunately it really doesn't offer much beyond the stereotypical poetry about AIDS and men that's been done wrong and black nationalist flag-waving stuff. Maybe that's *why* there aren't more books about gay black poets. :P

I'm pretty excited about Zen in the Art of Writing. I *love* Ray Bradbury (unfortunately, this year, he was relegated to being my second favorite author) and any 'how-to' manual on writing has got to be good. :) The rest of it, I think, is storyteller-prep stuff.

Just thought I'd share.

Oh: and by the by, does anyone happen to have a LiveJournal code they aren't using? I actually have an idea that I'll *use* now. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
