Yesterday was pretty decent, overall. It took me way too long to get things in order, but once I did it was off to the races. The day job was pretty frustrating because I got stuck handling tickets the entire time. I mean, the tickets themselves aren't frustrating -- but my lack of troubleshooting knowledge is. I'm being asked to resolve issues that surely give me a more intimate look at the Service Manager we're using, but I would rather read documentation that gives me a more organized view of it.

Part of my frustration, I think, is that my problem-solving skills feel lacking. Like, there's some kind of meta-knowledge about figuring out how to fill in the missing bits of information I need to solve things quickly. I mean, I understand that I'm learning but it feels like I should be learning better and faster by now. I'm a 40-year-old man! Why can't I be an expert in anything I learn about within, like a week?

Still, the education continues apace. I think at this point I should set up a meeting with a coworker to really learn my way around the system, so that's on the to-do list.

I spent an hour working on the Unlicensed Adventures game, and I think I've hit on a prep style that actually works for me. First pass is the 10,000-foot view where I outline the scenes, the major beats, and what PCs should have coming out of them. Then, once the rough outline is set I can fill in the details like dispositions of the NPCs, tactics of combatants, plot points seeded in specific places. That way I can actually outline the complete game and then decide which bits need more concrete plans and what I can wing.

The evening was pretty full, of course. Chest workout at the gym, cooking dinner *while* in a meeting with the writing group, and then the Kjester game. My satyr, it turns out, got his own holiday in Betelstown so we pretty much had to kill the kobolds that had been slowly bleeding them dry over time. It was a surprisingly difficult fight! That may have been down to the terrible dice rolls and my barbarian got charmed into helping the kobolds out of the Entangle spell our druid freaking *nailed*. Honestly, druids in A5E are so much better than they are in regular 5E, it's not even fair. ;.;
