Still getting back into the groove of things. Usually when I take some time off and come back, I can fall right back into the routine, but for some reason it's kicking my ass a little more than usual. I'll have to pay particular attention to diet (i.e., drink more water, eat healthier foods) and making sure I get enough sleep.
Things have been hopping for me the last two weeks, and they'll be even hoppier for the forseeable future. :) Spent the last two weekends in Calaveras County, a region made famous by the gold rush and Mark Twain. It was really neat, and I'm still working on a full report. We'll be going to see Hairpsray next Tuesday with
malinandrolo, and I'm *seriously* looking forward to that. The movie was probably my favorite of last year, so seeing it live will be a real treat...as long as it's not Beauty and the Beast craptacular.
Let's see: I've started making a list of writing goals that I'd like to hit every day, and they've been working pretty well. It's enormously satisfying to tick off accomplishments throughout the day, and I've been motivated in ways that I haven't been for a long time. Hopefully I'll even have something to show before too long!
Oh, exciting news! I took my old kangaroo pooka suit out of mothballs last Halloween to wear at Adobe, and people really loved it. The costume's getting pretty ratty, though, unfortunately; the ears are both broken and floppy, and the tail doesn't have the same weight it did. The idea of a White Rabbit costume came up and I thought it would be pretty neat but didn't give it much thought...that is until Zack gave me a kick in the pants for it.
So now we're in the planning and exploratory stages. I have this habit of making things far more complicated than they need to be, and this is no exception; I want all of the seams to be as invisible as possible, which is easy enough for the hands and feet, but I'm finding the neck and head to be a real problem. I'm going with a prosthetic and white paint for the face itself, but I don't want it to be *terribly* obvious that it's just me painted. The head-wig, with ears attached, is also going to be interesting. We'll find out once we start building stuff just what's within the realm of possibility or not.
Oop, time for work!
