National Poetry Writing Month?
Dec. 27th, 2005 07:56 amSince all those uppity prosists (I'm really just jealous because I can't seem to make short stories work for the life of me) get NaNoWriMo every year, how about we poets devote one month of every year to writing a good book's worth of poetry? We could call it NaPoWriMo, which is *so* much catchier than that other, inferior National Writing Month deal. ;)
Better yet, we could better time *our* writing month so that holidays and stuff aren't in the way. In January, with the New Year's hangover still throbbing behind our eyes (pain makes for the best poetry, everyone knows this), we blearily untangle ourselves from sheets and limbs (or just sheets; loneliness makes for good poetry too!), stumble, stagger and crawl to our writing desks and pontificate on the angst of our condition in measured, exacting words. What could be more fun than that??
So, come on people, what do you say? NaPoWriMo for January 2006?
