I've had a Sigur Ros song stuck in my head for the past three days. Bugger me if I could even begin to pronounce the name of it, too. It's a really great song, and the perfect soundtrack to my mood for the past week.

I haven't been very good about maintaining an Official Vacation Report(tm) or anything, and I'll see if I can tackle that tomorrow if anyone's interested. Really, there hasn't been much to talk about this week past that; life seems to have started right where it left off when I headed out west.

Work is twisty, but thankfully Charles has given me a new trick or two to deal with the overabundance of books coming in. It's not a very good solution, really, but it will have to do for now. Mainly, we just need to stop buying quite so many books; easier said than done when so many people are pawning their books off on us so they can have money to do their Christmas shopping elsewhere with, but it's something we have to try. If it were up to me, I'd be as miserly as possible around this time of year, just to spite the asshats who're trying to make a quick buck on the locally owned business so they can get that discount electronic doodad from Soulless Megachain Store.

No news on the tooth thing yet; friends have been supplying me with the numbers of dentists they recommend. Monday, I'll be getting in contact with them to see how reasonable their rates are and (more importantly) what their payment plans are like. There's a weird little credit card for dentists called the HELP Card that I applied for and was rejected the very next day. So, no matter what, I'm pretty much on my own with this one.

I think the jetlag has been dogging me all week; I pretty much hit the ground running off the plane on Sunday and haven't had much of a chance to relax since then. Tomorrow'll be a day off, and I intend to spend it being slothful and cooking for a potluck on Monday, and for my boss' birthdays on Tuesday. Don and Charles, conveniently enough, share the same birthday, and we always like to do something special for them. I am the offical function dude around here, more or less, so I get to bring the cake. I plan on making the fabulous Sam's carrot cake. :9 I really wish there was an 'infiniti' candle that we could put on it in place of their ages. ;)

For the potluck...I don't know, but I think I might go with a potato-ey dish. Au gratin potatoes sounds really good, and since everyone's going to be doing some kind of dessert, I think it's safe to bet I'll have the market cornered.

Writing comes along slowly; I'm debating whether to tuck in early tonight or try writing a little bit before bed. I suppose it all hinges on how I'll feel after dinner. Oh! I should buy a space heater for the room while I'm out. It gets amazingly cold without one.

I'm feeling genuinely peaceful. Lots of problems right now, but they'll be taken care of one way or another. I really love this time of year. :) I wish people could stop focusing on the unimportant shit and do more about building some sense of community where they can.

Is everyone okay?
