Revolution

At 8:08 this morning, Central Daylight Time, I officially completed my 25th revolution around the sun.
It is not an easy thing, to stay glued to a planet that is flying through the void of space at 18 miles per second, but after 25 trips you start to get the hang of it. And, once you're reasonably assured that lifting your foot too high won't strip you of basic gravitational rights, you can get down to the business of figuring out what you're going to do with the rest of your free time.
One down side to this remarkable feat is the fact that I will never be included in a cover story featuring the "Best XXXXXs Under 25." I really was looking forward to being in one. I'm also not nearly as desired by adverising firms and companies seeking to sell their wares. And, alas, I'm that much closer to the point where the government will not consider me for the draft. Despite these crushing blows, I will find some way to soldier on.
Thanks, everybody, for the birthday wishes and kind words and encouragement. Your friendship is truly appreciated, even when I'm being petulant and sulky and not showing it very well. You are all cherished.
arrowtwolf will be in town this weekend as part of his whirlwind tour through the U.S. I was looking forward to making many tall jokes at his expense, but I have yet to come up with any. I still have an hour to think of something, and I trust that my wit will not fail me.
On to winedrinking and other merriments!
