So, I'm going to start putting up little weight progress reports once a week, and sort of giving myself a week-in-review thing.

For this inaugural edition, I came out at 172.5 pounds, which is pretty steady from what I've been weighing in at. Unfortunately, this means my unsightly gut is still there. :) We'll hopefully be changing that.

Eating well is the first half of the equation, and I've been doing OK with that. There are, however, lapses: my sweet tooth absolutely kills me in that regard. Sure, I'm not eating fast food nearly as often, but a single Snickers bar or a pack of cookies or the wrong kind of potato chips are almost as bad, if not worse. I can't really *stop* snacking throughout the day, though (what can I say, I'm a grazer), so I'm going to see if I can't switch over to healthier stuff; fruit like grapes or plums or apple slices with peanut butter, and pretzel sticks.

This week I'm on the Poverty Diet, but that's not so bad. Most of the stuff I have in the pantry will get me through the week, and I'm actually doing pretty well on stuff to take to work with me for lunch. A turkey sandwich with tomatoes and a cup of yogurt should be just fine...when combined with pretzel sticks and grapes. :)

The exercise, of course, is what's giving me the *most* trouble. I've decided that I really don't like jogging at all, so I'm going to look into other ways to get cardio. Today, [livejournal.com profile] arlekin, [livejournal.com profile] delphinios, [livejournal.com profile] silver_raccoon and I rode bikes around the neighborhood and that turned out to be all kinds of fun. :) [livejournal.com profile] prismo made me an offer on his bike which I'll likely accept in time, so I think biking is actually the thing for me. :) Getting a regular tennis partner is going to take a bit more work, but it's doable. And I'm also thinking about doing the 108 prostrations for exercise. Hey, getting fit and enlightened at the same time is a good thing. ;)

Anyway, I usually let myself slide on Sundays, because I buy a whole lot of snack foods and energy drinks and such for Odis' game, and today is no exception. In a few weeks, though, I'll try to wean myself from the Nutrageous bars and replace them with something like...say, Skittles or Raisinets. They're still not the best things (way too much sugar), but compared to something packed with caramel and peanut butter, they're actually a good way to cut back.

Actually...hmm. Healthy gamer food. That's an idea that's waiting to be had. I'll have to look into that.
