Gloves Off
Mar. 22nd, 2005 08:20 amI promised myself I wouldn't get involved in the whole Terry Schiavo thing, but this really needs to be spread around. Thanks to
lynxkitten for the heads up.
Who's flip-flopping now??
I understand how most people (especially of a religious bent) uphold the sanctity of life, but at the same time given the prodigious leaps in medicine we've had even within the last hundred years, Schiavo wouldn't have had a chance at being alive even 50 years ago. A bold claim with my lack of medical knowledge, but I'll stand by it. I think everyone should have at least the right to choose how they should die in this situation, and both her husband and her parents have claims to knowing exactly how she would want it. I wish there was something that could be done for both sides to come to an agreement. Even still, the government should back off. It's just another instance of Bush showing how UNconservative he is by butting into people's private affairs. What happened to the Republican idea of small government? Or does that only apply to giant businesses?
