jakebe: (Bad Ass)

This weekend was pretty fun. :)

Because [livejournal.com profile] delphinios is adopting a different work schedule this week and [livejournal.com profile] arlekin is taking on a swanky new job the week after next, last Friday was the last part of [livejournal.com profile] stickypawz' Eberron game. All of us are really, really sorry to see it end; it's like a great TV show ending suddenly because the main actors decide to pull out or well, die. Odis says there'll be a 'spinoff' game in a month's time (it'll take a little bit to set things up apparently), but I'm really, really going to miss the group we had going. Delphi, Cy and I work insanely well together, we even argue like old friends (because we are), and our characters had really great RP tangents. I'm pretty bummed it's over after a short 6 weeks. <:) Anyway, with this last game the great mysteries of Pomervale were revealed. It turns out that Crist's (Delphi's character) teacher, Kaylin of Orien, had hired a bunch of goblins to do a bit of unsanctioned archaeology inside the town to get at all the tasty artifacts that are supposed to be in the ruins. They found what was essentially an ancient tower belonging to a lost House (the House of Change). The ruler of that House had a familiar who happened to be trapped in the tower's basement, and the goblins released him. Lucas' (my character) Pendant of the Moon Bear, Renn's (Cy's character) Ring of Telekinesis and Crist's Ring of Poly Any Object (as well as Cardin's (Nick, who flaked two or three games in) Hammer of Thunderous Ruin) were already released into the town somehow, and the head of the goblin tribe received the Pendant of the Moon Rat. From there, she infected her entire tribe with lycanthropy, so we were dealing with a gaggle of goblin wererats. I'm pretty sure Odis was straight-up masturbating to this scenario as he was dreaming it up at this point. When the imp was released, all of our magic items activated. Lucas was infected with ursanthropy (werebearism, hurrah!), and as it turns out it's an incurable condition because of the pendant. The imp wanted nothing more than to restore his master to life. His master, the leader of the House of Change, was transmuted into stone and broken into all sorts of little pieces that were scattered around time in the 2500 years since the battle took place. He struck a deal with the goblins to retrieve the bits of his master. Somewhere in there, things went south and the imp did all sorts of wild things to get our attention (like planting black mold at Craney's farm, and using the opportunity to shoot the Sheriff in the throat with a crossbow bolt, turning him into undead). After they pieced together the master as best they could, they kidnapped the town's Herald, a prissy half-elf unicorn-lover, and sent a note to Crist threatening to kill him and reveal Caylin's big secret (the town would not look too kindly upon the wizard bringing goblins into town, even if he *was* one of the leading sources of income in town). Crist tried to come alone, but we wouldn't let him, and to make a long story short, Odis fucked us with a pack of goblin/wererats. (Crist and Renn were taken out in the first round by poison tipped darts, and when I wouldn't go down (because I was in bear form) they started chucking javelins and silver-tipped crossbow bolts at me. I was finally knocked out by a silver dagger to the gut.) Somehow, miraculously, Renn and Crist woke up and frightened off the rest of the rats. Renn nearly killed Lucas getting the silver out, but eventually he was patched up OK and we followed the tracks back to their cave/system of caves. Renn and Crist developed the exploration plan, mainly because Lucas was a little out of it at that point. They decided to make a wooden dummy and float him down the corridors first, setting off any traps that may have been set. Crist also walled up any corridors that we didn't go down, so the goblins couldn't get us from behind. We eventually found the altar with the imp and the goblin leader and the imp explained things and asked Crist to change the statue they had formed back to flesh. Instead, Crist turned it into sand and we had to fight them. Lucas went for the goblin queen first and foremost, because he owed her for the silver. The imp was the realm of Renn and Crist. The imp disappeared, but we did kill the goblin queen (and how; Crist and Renn conjured up silver shurikens to mess her up with....and whatdyaknow, the plan worked!). I found the imp as Crist and Renn slept, and then he told us the whole story. We found the Herald and came out to find a green dragon had cooked all of the rest of the goblins as they tried to attack us from behind. The green dragon, it turns out, was the Stranger that was rumored to be hanging around, had an affair with the Miller's wife (another scenario, the first we ran), and declared his debt to us had been repaid (the Miller we brought to justice and his wife has been laid to rest properly). We were really confused by that, but hey, a green dragon did us a favor, who are we to argue? We went home, things went well from there...for the most part. Renn had been infected with lycanthropy through a bite he received from the Goblin Queen, and those javelins set up a really nasty infection. The Priestess of the Soveriegn Host found out about my lycanthropy through the illness and things went downhill from there. Renn was offered a chance to be healed, and Cardin, who had gone to the Silver Flame and become clergy, ratted Lucas out. So, as Renn was leaving to a better Host tower, the local Flame friar received a letter alerting him that the Inquisition was coming to town in a few days. So, Lucas had to duck out to the Eldeen Reaches very quickly, and that's where we ended the game. Effectively, all of us became Lords, were granted land, and Lucas became Sheriff, but almost all of it was taken away because of the therianthropy of two of the characters. Thanks, Odis. You're a pal. Anyway, there'll be a month's hiatus between this game and the 'spinoff', if it even happens. I'm going to go through serious withdrawal. :( Also, I lost five pounds last week! I'm down to 170 pounds, and I hope to lose about two more this week. I'll be trying to run five times a week as well, but we'll see how that goes. And now, work.
