There are a lot of times I randomly come up with a question about some fundamental thing that we often take for granted. How did everyone agree that the dollar is the currency we'll deal with here in the United States? Why did we decide to make it green? Why do shoes look the way they do? So forth and so on.
I've toyed with the idea of thinking about these questions, writing them down, researching them a bit and then writing an essay that answers it. I'm sure this is one more thing that I might be into for a month and then drop, but I'd like to gauge interest for it.
Are there weird questions that you would like to know the answer to? If so, what are they? Would you read a blog that devoted itself to this? *Are* there blogs that devote themselves to this?
I know that Cecil Adams has The Straight Dope, which is awesome and everyone should read if they haven't yet. What I was thinking, though, is covering answers in a bit more detail, snatching periphery trivia and explaining its relevance or interest. These questions would perhaps be answered once a month at first, and possibly faster if I got good at it or something.
