I've been in a slump all week that I've only now managed to pull out of. Work has continued to be a beast, with the computer *still* infected with spyware (I think I've removed most of it, but I'm still getting excessive pop-ups and weird browser behavior) and Charles chewing me out non-stop for the past three days about the way the Arkansas and Poetry section is kept. The worst part about this is I know I probably deserve most of it; with Erika gone and me taking up the slack for part of her sections, combined with the fact that I've honestly been pretty lazy about work last week, the section has gone to hell. BUT there is one qualifier to append to this, a big one:

When people come in to sell books (which they've been doing a lot of lately), Charles and Don use the aisle of Poetry and Arkansas to look through them. People bring in boxes and boxes of books that need to be sorted through, then boxed up for cleaning and pricing. Guess where those 'prep' boxes go? That's right, that same aisle. With *all* the traffic that we've been getting there, it's really hard to make sure everything's up to snuff. Add to that people really loving to browse those two sections, and there's almost never a good time to preen the books and make sure they look all right.

Even still, there are tons of books in the Arkansas section that should be brought from the back and shelved, and I'll be doing that this evening. Hopefully it won't take too long because I'd like to straighten Poetry as well. I can deal with the duplicates in both sections tomorrow. I'll also try and stay out of Charles' way tomorrow, just in case. Another drubbing won't do much for my wee fragile ego.

If you've never heard it, do try to listen to "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash. It *is* the bee's knees. :)
