Conclusion
Mar. 26th, 2004 07:37 pmThe best writing always makes me cry. There is absolutely nothing like the feeling of something overwhelming you completely, a rush of emotion like a tidal wave hitting you square in the face when you let go of everything you know to grasp this one thing you knew all along. There's the aftertaste of appreciation for living in a world where you can have that experience.
This feeling is better than any drug in the world.
This feeling is where I want to live, even if most of the time I'd be stuck in the suburbs. :) The regular maintenance and spreading of this feeling any way I know how is what I'd like to make my business. Everything else is secondary, you understand.
It's very odd that I'm realizing this so late, and even worse that the motivation needed to propel me forward only comes in fits and starts. I need a very long period of focused, solid work. So, that's what I'll do.
In slightly related news, Grant Morrisson finished his run on New X-Men with the latest issue, and it's easily one of the best comics I've ever read. Yes, there are cliches, but they're in all the right places so it's all good. He will be sorely, sorely missed.
Crafting the perfect story is something that takes lifetimes of practice. Despite all the writing I've done I still feel so very new at it. I hope that the sensation of being green never goes away completely. :)
