"We used to say that Frisbee is really a religion - 'Frisbyterians,' we'd call ourselves. When we die, we don't go to purgatory. We just land up on the roof and lay there." - Ed Headrick, the inventor of the modern Frisbee, who died in his sleep a few days ago

Hey there, all...

Blackfeather went for the next leg of his trip this morning, after spending a week at the house. He'll be in St. Louis this afternoon, in Detroit the next...

It was really nice having someone to wake up next to for a while.

As nice as it feels, though, I really don't think I'm cut out for a relationship at this stage of my life. I would really like to try one out with a few people, actually...but I'm too...broken to really give it a go. If there's one thing this visit told me, it's that I have a bigger problem with intimacy and openness than I thought. Maybe Joey was right; maybe I don't spend enough time with people that I should.

I've thought about why I have such a problem with closeness a lot over the past few days, and I know why: without getting into it, or trying to get pity points, I've been...molested. Not in the "I've-been-victimized-by-evil-people-I-feel-so-dirty" kind of...OK, yeah, maybe in that kind of way.

Rex, a vigilante German shepherd
Neemeerari(?), a shaman healer dingo
Wagunda, a shaman healer kangaroo

The Story So Far
Beefy and Rex were on their way to deliver the Golden Banana to the Handsome Monkey King, a ruler who managed to build a little compound to the west of the Alice, a new community set up from the old ruins of Alice Springs. Rex needed a quick way out of the city because of Rob, a crazed fox who managed to kill a small rabbit *and* get the Sheriff of the city to step in the bloody remains. Rob had a ransom on his head, and since Rex was associated with him, they needed to lay low for a while.

Jumpin' Sam, the owner of the Watering Hole and unofficial post-master general of the Alice, gave Beefy the package to get the three out of town for a few days. They managed to escape, but only two days out Rob was killed by scorpions and they were ambushed by a lesser panda who told them the Golden Banana was an evil symbol that the Handsome Monkey King used to rule over his subjects with an iron fist! Eventually, a truce was arranged, and the party decided they would travel to Alyssa's home base to unwrap the present and see exactly what was in the box.

Day two brought them new ambushes, and a new set of foes. After dispatching easily of a turtle and a bear, they were beset upon by a badger and a vixen, who planned a far more cunning trap than they had prepared for! Rex was taken out quickly with a sleep-poisoned dart, but Beefy shook off the drug's effects and a monstrous battle ensued! The struggle lasted for a good 30 minutes, but in the end Beefy was the only bird left (barely) standing.

Game 3: Morals?
Two shamans walked into the area, just by happenstance. The kangaroo arrived first, noticing that 6 people were just laid out on the ground, looking pretty banged up. He healed them as much as he could at first, bandaging them up one by one until at last he came to a raven, hanging by his feet from a tree with a paper bag over his head. As he reached out to heal the bird, a nut fell from the sky. He looked up to see Beefy looking back down at him. "The bird's fine," came a voice inside the kangaroo's head. Perplexed, he went away a bit, and began to play a didgeridoo.

The dingo was attracted to the instrument's sounds, and together they conferred a bit. Beefy hid the raven elsewhere, and disappeared himself, so the dingo was...a bit confused by the kangaroo's story. Eventually, though, the rest of the party was woken and interrogations were begun.

The kangaroo was decidedly biased towards the raven, whom he considered a spirit-brother, and kept trying to heal. A fight almost broke out between this new shaman and Rex, before Alyssa calmed things down, took the raven and kangaroo aside, and let him work his magic.

Meanwhile, Rex interrogated the vixen, and then the badger, and didn't get much information besides the fact that they were after the Golden Banana for reasons of their own; they believed it would afford them wondrous, god-like powers, and they really wanted those. (who wouldn't?) After another bit of violence, Rex, Beefy, Alyssa and the dingo-shaman all gathered to leave, with the kangaroo-shaman and raven going their seperate ways.

Thoughts
This game didn't quite have the rolling, plundering feels the last two did, but that's mainly because we introduced new characters, and I had to find a way to get a one-shot character (the kangaroo) in and out on little notice. I'm not quite good at that, but I'm getting better; I guess games are going to have to suck once in a while before I truly become a master storyteller. :)
