I get a letter from Arvest, my bank, slipped under my door yesterday. I think, "Well, it's a wee bit early for my bank statement to be showing up, but I'll check it out." I open it up, and it tells me my balance has wandered into the negative ranges; three checks I wrote totalling about $16 threw me over the line and now I owe about $65 for them. Ow. It's doable, certainly, and I'm very grateful I have overdraft protection, but man...suck.

This is why you make absolutely sure your checkbook is balanced.

So, even if I *could* find a way to PMP now, it's very unlikely that I'll go. Between car, teeth and *now* this, I'm going to be in a small hole for a little while. Again. :)

With this paycheck, I'm planning to get tires for my car, manage some kind of insurance on it, and well...pay for my overdraft fees. And that takes care of that.

Odis' game tonight, which I am looking forward to. I'm not sure if I've spazzed about it yet or not, but here's a brief rundown:

The world was once owned by corporations. At the head of these corporations were Greek gods and goddesses; the entire pantheon traded the worship of mortals for stocks and profits in determining their power. Things went well for a time. Corporations, spurred on by rising profits and name recognition, churned out wonder after wonder, and the people were largely happy.

Of course, something happened. War broke out between Zeus and Aries, and it plunged the world into chaos. The economy collapsed and the gods lost all of their power. A cataclysm rocked the world, and now, 60 years later, the remnants of man are just beginning to form crude agrarian civilizations once again.

We (Nikon and I) live in a small farming community named Peiria, a good day's walk south of the main city of Katerini. The town's population divides its faith between Artemis, Hestia and Demeter, though it's fairly useless now; no god but Hades actually *answers* prayers, and that's when we're putting them in the ground. ;)

Nikon is playing a priestess of Hestia, I'm playing a smith who gives lip service to Artemis on Sundays. The first game was just...introductory; my character, Schopin, was commissioned by the town's sheep farmer (yes, he *is* wrong) to completely reforge an old engine block that his son had cracked. Deeana(?), Nikon's character, hung around at my forge and the temple. Meanwhile, Schopin's mother revealed that his dad had been cheating on her for sometime, and accused him of being gay, *and* told him how handsome he was...in very inappropriate ways. Odis is a bastard. ;)

On the day the last of the engine was being worked on, Schopin offended Deeana with an off-color joke. Just as she was about to leave, a big flaming ball sailed across the air to hit a building near the forge. To make a long story short, raiders from Amathea to the north decided to take the town. We both fought pretty hard, but got rather messed up in the process. And the town was razed anyway. Everyone we knew, including my parents, were probably dead.

We survived by racing through the forests to the west of town, whereupon we were attacked by rather large wolves. Pretty weakened by what we just went through, we lost, and woke up in some sort of chamber. Our wounds were dressed and we were fairly chastised for going through the forests. We parlayed for a bit before it was discovered we were talking to none other than Artemis herself! Schopin was blown away, and grovelled through the rest of the meeting.

Anyway, we were eventually charged with a task; travel to Amathea and ask the priest of Aries why they chose to trample down a part of Artemis' forests. If we made it back alive, we would be rewarded. We were asked to take communion, which Schopin did readily but Deeana did only after a bit of cajoling. With a vow to leave early the next morning, we bedded down for the night. We begin tonight's game...that morning.

As you can see, the premise is pretty bizarre, but I'm digging it so far. I don't think the game has quite gelled yet, but it's well on its way there.

In the meantime, I have a bit of financial and auto stuff to set straight.
