Black Sunday
Sep. 7th, 2003 10:31 pmHey there, all...
I finally get a bit rested to, you know, do things, when a bunch of unfortunate things happen. First and foremost:
R.I.P. Father Glomblechucks (2003): Aaron's World of Darkness game is no more, after an implosion brought about by a change of OOC game setting, and half of the gamers jumping ship for another game recently started by a disgruntled ex-gamer of Aaron's. It's not known if the good Father will return at some point (I really hope he does), and where, but for now it's very unlikely he'll show up anytime soon. :/
Also, the Ravens had their asses handed to them by Pittsburgh in their opening game. Heh, I bet a lot of you didn't have me pegged for a football fan, did you? Well, shame on you.

Well, shame on you. <:) Baltimore is actually a town that loves its football, and I remember that fateful day when our beloved Colts left in the middle of the night to jump ship for Indianapolis. No really, I still remember watching the news report about it when I was three years old. It happened in 1983, and I *still remember it*. It's one of my earliest memories. Strange, huh?
Anywho, I followed Baltimore's ill-fated bid for expansion (the proposed name was the Bombers; our slot went to Jacksonville, and I'm glad it did), our championship-winning CFL team the <strike>CFL Colts</strike> Stallions, and how we completely screwed them into heading north, and our stealing of the Browns. <:) (sorry, Cleveland!) I didn't really get behind the Ravens, though, until their Super Bowl trip a few years ago.
Trouble is, it seems like *forever* that it had happened. The defense that was the most celebrated since Pittsburgh's Iron Curtain is mostly gone, now spearheaded by the really-good-at-what-he-does-but-kind-of-assinine Ray Lewis. Our offense was never really good, and with rookie QB Kyle Boller it doesn't look like it's going to get much better. Still, Billick can coach these guys to at least a .500 season. I belee dat. :)
Anywho, a 34 - 15 loss to the Steelers is bad, even for the Ravens' standards. And with how crappy they were doing in the preseason...man. :/
In other sports news, Andy Roddick won his first Grand Slam today, beating Ferrero in three sets to take the U.S. Open. I would have loved to see Agassi up there instead, but hurrah for Roddick. It's too bad Lleyton Hewitt's game has gotten so far off and he's pissed off at, well, everybody, or else he'd be up there, too.
Mmm, football and tennis. :9
Anywho, off to research for Historimorphs!
