He Gets Lonely Now
Apr. 25th, 2003 07:35 amHey there, all...
Today is Friday, which means pay day, finally being able to get my stupid state ID (finally!), and on-line Monopoly! Hurrah! I get to school
lazarusrat and PalaceCat in new ways of being a capitalist pig! Eh, not really...I'm probably going to get dusted, especially since the ratty lost so shamefully last time. >:)
*Almost* finished with We. About 11 more pages...even though I already know how it ends; I just couldn't resist reading the very last Record/chapter. It's not so much about the destination, but the journey it took to get there. I stopped last night to write an essay about it, and I'll post it somewhere when I'm done.
Went to see "Phone Booth" yesterday. Now a bad little movie; it was tense, like "Panic Room," even though it never quite reached the level of "I can't eat anything". Colin Farrell rocks all as the poor little schmoe who answers the wrong phone at the wrong time, and Forest Whitaker was pretty cool, too, even though his hangdog expression just...always seems inappropriate. You never figure out the caller's motives, really, which works and it doesn't. There's nowhere really to *fit* his motives into the movie's framework, but it would have been nice to get inside his head a little bit. Right down to the last, though, he was in complete control.
We rode home in a David Lynch movie. The sky was marked with brilliant points of lightning, a school bus with a red jacket in the back of it starts swerving into the lane next to it (ours) and just as we turn the corner to go to our apartment, a single firework explodes in the sky. It was...weird. :)
Haven't done too much of anything I actually *wanted* to this week, and I really don't have anyone but myself to blame. No focus, I tell ya, no focus. I'd start to get a really good clip going, and then some little distraction would send me tumbling off-course. Boo hoo. The struggle continues.
This weekend is like, full and stuff. Monopoly tonight after work, a Buster Keaton movie with
2_gryphon on Saturday, and I'll be filling in for Katy at work on Sunday. Working on Sundays at the bookshop is always pretty nice; it's so quiet and relaxing, and you can just sit back, have a cup of tea, get a bit of writing done and talk to people. It's pretty sweet; when I get my car up and running, I might have to ask Katy for the day.
Oh, and by the way, just so you'll know, I might be carrying around *buckets* of Super Mushrooms next time you see me on-line. Just fair warning. Watch out. >:)
