Hey there, all...
It's Valentine's Day! Since I buy into this holiday shit, I thought I would make a post about it. :P
I've had four people that I call "Great Loves" over my life, people who have taught me how to love (or not to love) someone. There was a dream I had some time ago where I was writing to each of them, referring to them by element; I've written three of the four poems from that dream already, with one more to come.
To my Earth: You were the first one to show me what real, open, honest love was all about, and I thank you for it. Through every one of our mellow conversations, there was such a passionate way about you that I miss dearly. Thank you for opening my eyes to what relationships are supposed to be.
To my Fire: You have this open passion about you and everything that you do I only wish I could hope to emulate someday. :) You're deeply moral, deeply spiritual, and I admire your faith in your convictions and the goodness you hold in the world. We need more people like you.
To my Water: You rush so much. :) The most beautiful moments can come from stillness, and you're at your best when you're at peace with everything. You're a lovely person; don't worry so much about things, just be like the Fonz. Coooool. I love you, never forget that.
To my Air: How many people attempt this twice? ;) You're as versatile and hard to pin down as the wind, and I wouldn't want you any other way. I love holding you, and I hate it when I'm away. More later.
OK, now that's out of the way...I feel better today. Went out with a friend to see Bowling for Columbine, which is a lot better put-together than I expected. I fully expect Michael Moore to preach to the choir with his documentaries, but he raises quite a few interesting questions and connects a lot of seemingly random, baseless things to one surprising undercurrent that's running through our country right now. If you haven't seen it yet (even if you *are* Republican or Libertarian), go do it! He only does maybe two things that are needlessly antagonistic. :)
More later, I'm at work so there's only so much to say.
