Hey there, all...

Ugh, does anyone have any remedies for aimless boredom and apathy? Grr...

As an attempt to get rid of said malaise, Sherri (Reah/Mamakitty et al) and I went out to rent movies. She, being the typical boy-crazy, Drew-Barrymore-worshipping girly-girl, got Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, which we hadn't watched yet. I spent an hour wandering around Hastings looking for a good movie that would make me just...bawl my eyes out. Don't ask why, but I've found that watching a movie that makes me cry a whole lot has this weird cathartic effect that leaves me feeling clear.

I saw The Iron Giant and felt the sentimental pangs of a good cry well up; it's been way too long since I've seen that movie, and it was a doozy. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. But 2 has it, so there's no need to rent. >:)

I settled for this movie called Wendigo instead. I heard a review for it on NPR or some such, and it sounded *really* good, so I snapped it up. It turned out to be...well, good, but mildly disappointing. It's a modern fable, a re-imagining of old myths into the mindset of today, and I totally dig that. The director/writer, though, left a lot of the connections and relationships between characters, particularly the Wendigo's motivations and reasons, very very vague. I'm pretty sure I could come up with a theory or two about them all, were I not very tired.

And it would make a good springboard for an eventual short story. Must remember: "The more he eats, the bigger he gets. And the bigger he gets, the hungrier he gets."

Anywho, Hunter S. Thompson was just on Conan O'Brien. It was a great interview. :D Speaking of Conan, I think I'm going to have to keep a tab on how many times he's dissed Kangaroo Jack because he *seems* to make it a point to do it once every show.
