Ramadan, Day 8: The Day of Revelations
Nov. 23rd, 2001 04:25 pmHey there, all...
Well, I figured something out. I suck. Besides that, I've been taking the entirely wrong view of Ramadan. Talking to Aaron last night, I kinda figured out that I've been thinking of this holiday as something that I have to do as opposed to something I want to do...because, when you get right down to it, it *is* just something I want to do. No one's putting a gun to my head, the laws of my religion don't dictate that I have to do it, and in fact the specifics are completely up to my interpretation. Only I have the power to 'deny myself' in such a way, and it's my choice.
So, saying that "I won't eat" instead of "I can't eat" hopefully will greatly improve my resolve to carry through with this. The urge to eat comfort food is indeed great. ;)
Well, Ryngs is bugging me to get my check cashed, so I'll continue this later...maybe. :)
