Hey there...
New year, new traditions, I suppose. I really like the Friday Five, so I suppose I'll be one of those proud LJers who participate weekly. Trust me, it's much better than the bitchy, anti-social post I'd make otherwise.
1. Where are you right now?
Right now, I'm at work, in the computer room. I'm surrounded by at least a few thousand books listed on-line or already on shelves, so we stick 'em back here. It's pretty cold back here because there are quite a few holes in the ceiling and the room back here doesn't have heating.
2. What time is it?
It's just after noon. If you squash 'em together, you get afternoon...which is, after noon, but before dusk. Yup, the sun's still up, but gravity's working its magic even now. Whee!
3. What are you wearing?
Wow, this is sounding like phone sex. :) I'm wearing a very well-worn pair of khakis, a t-shirt for the North Melbourne Kangaroos (an Australian Rules Football team, yahoo!), and a scruffy blue trenchcoat. And, of course, my trusty Baltimore Ravens baseball cap. Even though they're a football team.
4. Any people or animals around you? Describe them.
Nah, the computer room is my little hidey-hole away from the rest of the Bookshop. I'm checking Internet orders right now (at least, I'm supposed to be anyway), and there are three more employees 'outside' -- Don, the owner, Katy, the high-strung, and Bernadette, the frazzled soccer mom.
5. What are your plans for the weekend?
Lots of writing (hopefully) and lots of reading. I picked up quite a few books that I've been meaning to buy for a while, including about four or five Buddhism books. The First Discourse of the Buddha looks interesting, but the translator/commentator, Dr. Rewata Dhamma, weighs in with a lot of interpretation I'm not sure is really necessary. Ah well, we'll see how it goes.
There's going to be an Unreal Tournament LAN party back at the apartment tonight, and I'll be sure to attend. I'm not sure how much fun it'll be (especially given my mood the past few days) but we'll see, there, too. Hopefully, I can pick up Remnants #1 sometime over the weekend...I've resigned myself to collecting the books as long as they're interesting. :)
