I am so glad the poetry meme is actually going around! All the poetry I've read is really good. It's getting little bits of word-chocolate throughout the day, way more than you should. Thankfully, it doesn't create love handles.

I've taken up jogging again since Sunday. I've also been doing situps and pushups and jumping jacks in the morning. And meditating. It's a really great morning routine! I'm looking forward to the day where I'll look for my belly and it won't be there.

For some reason, playing Norah Jones way too loud in the bookshop today is very amusing to me.

Been cooking in since Sunday, too! I had one breakfast fling at IHOP ([livejournal.com profile] dnapalmhead was visiting), and since then it's been mostly my stuff. I cooked chicken stir-fry with rice on Monday, which was significant because the rice came out wonderfully! Believe it or not, this was the very first time I didn't end up with crunchy and unsatisfying little bits of grain, so it was quite the moment. I cried, I hooted, I did a little dance. It was man discovering fire all over again.

Tonight, [livejournal.com profile] arlekin is coming over for dinner. I'm planning cheeseburgers, peas and carrots, and potatoes of some sort. There was this really amazing recipe for seasoned potatoes that called for celery and chicken broth that I made one Thanksgiving, and it went over well. I can't for the life of me remember it, though. I might just bite the bullet and make couscous instead (also with chicken broth). By the way, I'm really getting into cooking.

I found a website that (supposedly) has everything you need for learning Russian! A quick search on the Cyrillic alphabet, and six degrees of seperation later, I was looking at MasterRussian.com. It looks like a really great website, completely run by...folks who just like Russian. Hurrah! I'll be using it fairly extensively, along with the workbooks I managed to nick from the Bookshop. The Cyrillic alphabet is really interesting; I love the way it looks when it's written (one odd thing I've noticed about Russian handwriting is that it almost *always* looks the same, no matter who's writing it...I'm not sure why that is, though I could speculate), though some of the ways it's put together can be murder on the uninitiated tongue. One curiosity that I had forgotten about are the three letters that aren't really letters at all, but palatizing(?) effects that hardens or softens consonants. And then there's (bl), which is just tremendously fun to say. It's "oo-ee" in one syllable, as if someone's punching you in the stomach. Walk around reciting it; go ahead, it's fun!

So yes, life is good! There's too much still to do, as always. I *still* have to get started on the routine for Oklacon, and start the second part of the story for Historimorphs, and start writing the D+D game for everyone upon [livejournal.com profile] bamboofae's return. AND there's that little matter of moving my room into Odis' apartment before the end of the month. And THEN setting up the little network for my computers when I'm there. (bl)

Thankfully, this is all stuff I'm glad I'm doing. I feel really great right now.
