All right, so...

Today was fairly eventful, even though I really didn't actually get to do much of what I set out to do. If the fates were with me today, I'd be looking back on it now with the Arkansas duplicate section straightened out at work, Windows 2000 installed on the workbox, a chocolate cake prepared and waiting to surprise L. during her last work day and my clothes all packed and ready for the super-trip to Kansas City tomorrow. One out of four isn't bad, I suppose.

To be honest, I just straight goofed off for most of the day. I got sucked in to a novel called "The Long Voyage Back," by Luke Rhinehart. It's one of those 80s works that addresses the possibility of what would happen in the event of a global nuclear war. Most of the specifics are horrendously dated as such, but well, you know, reactions to nuclear annihilation are going to be the same throughout time, and that's where the novel really shines. It's just starting to get really tense, where just looking at the cover or cracking it open makes this knot swell in my chest. I love that feeling, as much as I hate it. It's like people who go to horror movies or skydiving or extreme snowboarding for the scare, the thrill, the rush of adrenaline. As much as it terrifies me, I can't really put something like that down. :)

Brian was supposed to come by to help me with the Windows install, but he just forgot. So I ended up being at the Bookshop from 10 - 9 (though, like I said, I was goofing off most of the time) and not even getting home until around 10 p.m. Lauren was nice enough to give me a ride home, and a ride to the store as well...where I told her I was buying cupcake making material. In actuality, I baked her a chocolate cake with strawberry cream cheese icing for a surprise party we're holding for her tomorrow. There'll be a good vegetarian pizza, and my cake, and presents! It should be a lot of fun.

[livejournal.com profile] bamboofae was gracious enough to let me use her kitchen, its utensils and half the ingredients in her fridge for it, and I had quite a bit of fun talking games with her and [livejournal.com profile] fisherking. I'm really looking forward to his Promised Sands game, it should be quite a blast. I think V and [livejournal.com profile] arlekin and I are going to have a very good dynamic going. And hopefully Odis' Pomervale game will be starting up soon, so I'll have my gaming fix all across the board once again.

I shouldn't be up this late; I think I'll go to bed. As usual, more I want to say but there's simply no time to say it with.
