I really did not want to go running today. My throat is scratchy and weird, I've been sneezing all day, and I'm feeling a little wheezy. I had a surprise run-in with some cats yesterday, and I'm still shaking off the allergies. This is even after dosing myself on non-drowsy medicine, immediately throwing the dandery clothes into the hamper and taking a shower as soon as I got home. Blah.
Not sure if this is some weird placebo effect or what, or if too little sleep and the allergy opened the way for a summer cold, or what. I'm just kind of feeling run down.
Still, there was fun to be had last night at poker. I'm happy with my style of play, though I could be better at stopping to read people before putting my chips in. The last two weeks I've been cracked, which is just bad luck, but I've also hung in a bit too long on hands I should know better than to play and I don't make the most of opportunities when I do have something. You can always get better, and we've got a really strong group, so I'm going to have to. :)
Back to exercise: I pushed myself a little today with my set. The preacher curl was too easy, and I handled 30 pounds all right. It's a bit too early to up the weight on the cable pulldown though. Maybe next week. The trouble is the weight set I'm working with only goes up in increments of 15 lbs., which is a pretty big jump. It doesn't really allow me to a little more week by week, unfortunately. So, the system I've adopted is upping one exercise a week, rotating through all of the exercises. This means I'll be upping the weights on one particular exercise once a month, which might be a good rate of progress. Next week, though, I'll see if I can't do full sets of the Preacher Curl and the cable pulldown at 30 and 45, respectively.
