The Practical
Jan. 27th, 2004 08:21 amThere's a bit of snow on the ground; nothing remotely like the beating that I hear people on the East Coast have taken, but any snow down here in Arkansas is a fairly big deal. Hopefully the busses will be running.
I haven't posted in a little while, mainly because I haven't had anything to talk about really. The situation has changed somewhat, but I don't have the time just this moment. ;)
This last weekend was a blast, despite a bad run or two, and next weekend promises to be no less fun. I'm eating into my savings a little bit with excessive spending, *but* it's going for a good cause. Hopefully I'll be able to have my phone and learner's permit by the end of this week. I'll keep folks updated.
Taxes have proven to be a monstrous pain, and oddly enough I haven't even done them yet. :) I've had to get student loans together, make an amended tax return for Arkansas for the past two years, wait for a special form that lets me know how much of my student loan payment is deductible, get W2s from Hell (EZ Mart), make all kinds of calls to all kinds of people I'd rather not talk to, etc. etc. The sad thing is that once all of my ducks are in a row, my tax return should be a cakewalk.
Work is fluctuating in intensity; neither Don or Charles are really happy about their situation with the fire department, who are coming back to check on our progress on Friday. Charles is bound to put up a fight, so it might be better for everyone involved if they came in the afternoon. <:) I learned quite a few things recently. Namely that I'm a lot more shy than I thought, and I feel awkward around most people I consider friends. I've stopped pushing so hard to keep up conversations, or say hi to folks, or...well, keep good touch. This, of course, gives me the look of being aloof and...snootish when I don't really mean to. So, erm, sorry. :) One person in particular alerted me to how it looks to some people, I guess, so I thought I would mention it. I'm just more inclined to let people be unless they actually enjoy talking to me. <:) I also take myself way too seriously. And other things, too. Very few things actually warrant the gravity I've been attributing to things, actually. So, yeah. It's good to be not so uptight! I'm trying not to waste so much time on-line; especially when friends aren't on, per se, but I'm hoping they'll connect any way or something. All in all, I'm in a pretty good mood, even though I'm having the omnipresent trouble of being close to people I want to be close to. The world turns. :)
