P. Diddy Die
Jun. 14th, 2002 02:14 pmHey there, all...
It's an *absolutely* fantastic day today. The weather is just incredible, about 75 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, it's not even humid! If this day were a person, it would be Edward Norton, or at the very least,
Potoroo. ;)
Yesterday was pretty good. Joey took his computers finally, so no more network for me. Fortunately, he was nice enough to loan me an external modem, which didn't work for some reason. I called him after work and he told me not only did I need to get an adapter for it (it's a serial modem but had the wrong cord-plug-thing), but I also hooked it up to the printer port...that's a Bad Thing.
He took a bunch more of his stuff, and I'm finally starting to get the house back in order...well, as much in order as it's going to be. I moved the bookshelf into the room, and re-organized my (pitiful) library. Working at the bookstore has brought out the worst of my anal abilities. Everything has to be organized in alphabetical order and use (entertainment, spiritual, self-improvement/non-fiction, art, comic books), and fronted so that the shelf looks nice. Oy. I think Joey would be proud of me if the books weren't so mistreated. ;)
I'm feeling a lot better; the HGP broke me, and I got paid today...so a lot of things I need for the house I can actually get. I also need to get laundry done and a lot more cleaning...you wouldn't believe the amount of sheer crap a carpet can soak up if you don't vacuum it for a year. Hopefully, no one's eaten off the floor of our house. If they have, congratulations...you have *exceptionally* strong stomach acid.
Gearing up for the weekend; not much is going on, actually, besides Joey's house-warming party. Joey, in all of his materialistic ambition, has done wonders for the place; they've described it as one of those apartments you see on TV, and are convinced that it actually can't exist in real life. It's really weird how he has the uncanny knack for turning *any* place into, like, the ultimate hang-out. Especially since he's one of those people you'd never suspect of being social.
As for this place...I've decided I would like to turn it into a sort of quiet, thoughtful place. Ultimately, I'd like NARFA to come over and...study or something in the living room. I guess I'd like to turn the living room into the ultimate reading room, very minimalist, few distractions, but still comfortable. That'd be cool. :) I think I'm gonna talk to 2 about restarting the Reading Circle downstairs...it won't quite have the selection of Barnes and Noble, but hey, the coffee and crumpets'll be free. :)
Once the house clean-up and everything is over, it's back to writing. I've got a *boatload* of project to do...everything from character and room descriptions on various MUCKs, short stories that I should have been working on months ago, trying to get all of my poetry into one place, learning how to draw, learning Linux, saving for AnthroCon, and learning how to be a bit more...social.
The funk has passed. :)
