Some people call this land of desert and swamp by any old name they can think of. Some people call it Oz. Some people call it Aussieland. A lot of people have taken to calling it Bananaland. Why? Well, all the maps of the country we've found in the ruins make it look like some weird banana. Whatever you call it, it's our home.

By now, I guess you're expecting a year. Well, afraid you're not going to get one, mate. We stopped keeping time after the Prang, you know, when the whole country went straight to hell in a kangaroo's pouch. I mean, what's the point, right? It was the strum end of everything, wasn't it? There was nothing left but a few stones stuck on top of the other, a tree or two, and a bit of water underground. No cities, no society, no metal even, since those bombs ate it all. What was there to possibly live for?

Eventually, though, enough people survived wandering around in the desert that they began to form bands of travelers, then herds. The Dreamtime came back, but the way the Abos tell it it was never really gone at all. The herds settled down into camps, and the camps grew into crude, dingy towns, and suddenly...society was born again. But this time with no humans, and magic, and no metal. Sure, things are a lot more dangerous, and a lot of people haven't made the transit well...but it looks like we're going to pull through.

Brave new world, huh?

Game 1 Summary

After four weeks of trying to get this thing together, we finally held our first game! Delphinios (surprise!) joined our troupe, playing a German Shepherd named Rex, Aubrin played a non-morphic parrot psychic named Beefy, and Ryngs played a fox named Rob. Beefy is a courier for the start-up town known as the Alice, made essentially from the ruins of Alice Springs. It makes a nice buffer zone between the last human strongholds of Western Oz and the strange Dreamtime realms of northeast Australia. Rob had just gotten there after wandering from the ruins of Sydney Bay, his brain fried quite a bit from the Outback sands. Rex had lived in the Alice for a while, watching it grow into what very well could be Bananaland's first new city.

Rex and Rob both went to the Sherriff of the city to get jobs. Rex proved his chops to the Sherriff with a dislocated jaw, and Rob tried to prove himself by showing off his archery skills. Unfortunately for Rob, his bow was tattered and rusty...and he managed to plug, not the bear's belt or shorts, but the throat of a young rabbit that just happened to be nearby. Of course, much chaos ensued, and our heroes managed to slip away when the Sherriff slipped on that same rabbit and landed on the poor thing.

Needless to say, the party needed to make a rather quick escape. With the help of Jumpin' Sam, owner of the Watering Hole Bar and Ranch, they managed to get some supplies and disguises in order to leave the city. Sam left Beefy with a package for a small primate village off to the west, and Rex and Rob joined him for the mission as repayment for the supplies. After a small diversion at the leper pit on the outside of town, the heroes were on their way!

They made a good day's travel and camped down for the night, thanks to Beefy's knowledge of Songlines. However, they were attacked not only by another non-morphic psychic crow, but a shadowy figure they ended up subduing. This lesser panda was also a pscionist, and after a nasty, bloody battle in which the panda's hamstring was slit, she was finally subdued. She revealed herself to be a part of a freedom-fighting organization dedicated to the cause of toppling the regime of the Handsome Monkey King, and apparently, that package had everything to do with it. Our heroes then struck a bargain; this lesser panda would take them to her base of operations and they wuold all open the package together...tomorrow.

This was an unexpectedly fun game. I had no idea what to expect, actually, but I knew since I had very good gamers playing with me, as long as I came up with a somewhat interesting story, it would be good. Of course, my gamers delivered. The rabbit cub was priceless; it made this game one of the best ones I've been a part of in a while. :)
