Little Weekend
Feb. 18th, 2002 08:55 amHey there, all...
This was an interesting weekend to say the least. Astor, the incorrigibly irrepressible and horribly cute apatosaurus, came down for a rare Arkansas appearance. All in all, it was pretty neat, though I think he didn't have any idea how much he was gonna have to 'rough it' down here. ;)
Rozberk, Kendra and Valorian all came down, too. Solus showed up on Saturday and KitFox came down on Sunday. All in all, it was a really great weekend to hang out with friends!
Friday night I passed out until I had to go to work; the flu is *still* kicking my ass, and it's been over a week now. :/ Anyway, Astor, Roz and Traf came down to visit me at work, and Astor took a picture that I'll definitely want to have later.
Saturday morning we went to the Reading Circle at Barnes and Noble, and that was actually pretty fun...though we got precious little reading done. ;) I paid way to much for a turkey panini sandwich that wasn't worth it, a raspberry cheesecake that was, and a pretty decent caramel macchiato. Why I *didn't* wear my beret and turtleneck I'll never know; I'll have to remember next time.
After that, the rest of the group went out and about for caving, and I curled up at home and tried to get some more rest. Joey ran his "Stellar Horizons" game with a significantly decreased crew; half of his gamers went to play DragonCrest over the weekend instead. He seemed to get on fine regardless, though. :)
Speaking of Joey...he seems to be falling back in love with his ex-boyfriend, Jamie Otterbein. Jamie's a really cool guy, a bit moody (heh, pot calling kettle...), but overall a lot of fun just the same. He's also one of the tallest people I have ever known. :)
Anyway, Joey talked to me about it over the weekend, and he seems to be exactly the same place I am. Joey nor Jamie really want to try the long-distance relationship again, and I certainly can't say that I blame them...they are really hard to pull off. After Joey, too, I'm a firm believer in not getting involved unless we've got time to really know each other first; not through conventions, not through gatherings, not even through little visits...I mean, day to day getting to know you. And that would include a move to the area, but not living together. Sort of like a little probation.
Anyway...my thoughts on it are...well, they seem natural to me. I don't have any of that jealous ex thing going on, but I do want Joey to be careful. I think both of them would actually be pretty good for each other; they seem to talk pretty decently, and they probably have a bit more in common than Joey and I do. Joey wants me to talk Jamie into moving down to Arkansas...which would be cool, if only we were staying. ;) I don't have any intentions of being here before year's end, though...with or without my beloved roomies. I hope we'll all move to St. Louis soon enough...
But now I'm part of a "Move to NW Arkansas...now!" committee. Hee, kinda neat. :)
Sunday was pretty laid back. Astor wasn't feelin' the love from a combination of no sleep and wishy-washy furs (So *are* we going to see that movie? What movie are we gonna go see? I don't want to go see "Super Troopers"!), and by the time he anr Roz left, I think he was in a bit of a foul mood. Overall, I hope his trip went a bit better.
Anyway, we pretty much ate Burger King and watched movies for a while. Jerritt/Prowan decided he'd like to be in my tabletop game again, so he made a character. I set up a Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. time for the next game, and hopefully people will remember this time. :)
In the meantime, I've got to do laundry and a shower before work. Hopefully I can get that done before noon so I can have a bit of time to nap and stuff.
