Poem: Rainmaker
Jan. 2nd, 2002 07:15 amI know, I know...but songs pop into my head at the damndest times. This one is inspired by REM.
Rainmaker
To everyone I've ever pissed off
A bolt of liquid failure
hits me from
the blue and sun-tossed sky
A complication standard
from my head
or from a distant lie
You know me as rainmaker
Can you see me?
You cannot hide from this
But can I say I love you
after all
this fake and painful bliss
No one hears me come to me
(What can I stay? How have I come to this?)
No one hears me come to me
(I cannot say how much it came to this)
Now quiet down my celestial child
Stay your hand
the clouds won't gather here
I know you'll beg to differ,
your fire mane
will cover up your ears
How can I say I love you
catharsis won't care
to wash away our past
You know me as rainmaker
let's hope the rain
colors this desert grass
All the way
down the river
the water swells
and overflows for you.
Some far day
we'll meet again
and you'll discover
my mane has covered
my small ears
and I was ignoring you.
No one hears me come to me
(How can that be? I'm glad I came to this)
No one hears me come to me
(I've been redempted, so now I've come to this)
No one hears me come to me
(From my head, or from some distant lie)
No one hears me come to me
(Forget my bags, just pack my wings and fly)
Feedback appreciated.
