I've had Radiohead stuck in my brain all day. This is very painful, especially when "Mad Dog" Phil Selway plays the breakbeat for "Myxamatosis" right on that little fleshy thing, no, like down...yeah, right there. Ow. I love you, Phil, but lay off man.

I need to get more sleep. Haven't gotten too much this week, just like last week, and I tend to get a wee bit loopy.

I should really be better about answering LiveJournal comments.

Two things:

This morning was extremely gray, with a bit of fog drifting around and clinging to people's clothes. It's been a long time since I've felt such wet fog. The bus driver on the way to work loves to listen to classical music on NPR in the mornings, and I was reading with this music in the background when suddenly the emergency alert system came on. For some reason, it just reminded me that life can change just like that...one minute you're listening to a concerto and the next you're thinking about how to survive a nuclear holocaust. It was only a test, by the way.

In Unsui, there's a particularly striking picture of monks fighting. It really did look like a barroom brawl; bells were scattered on the floor, sandals were off, one monk was being pried away from a pole he was clinging to and another was being dragged towards an open door, through which we could see another monk sitting patiently. Apparently, these monks refused to visit the Roshi to submit an answer to his koan, and they were being...erm, helped in by some attendants. The title of the picture was "Great Compassion." For some reason, I thought this was funny as hell.
