A Strand of Arkansas
Jul. 21st, 2003 12:09 pmHey there, all...
Alas, since I wasn't able to make it to AC, I was *forced* to find something else to do in order to have fun. It wasn't really hard, though.

Hey there, all...
Alas, since I wasn't able to make it to AC, I was *forced* to find something else to do in order to have fun. It wasn't really hard, though. <:)
Welcome back, all con-goers, by the way.
On Friday I came home kind of primed for the weekend; we were planning to make a day of it on Saturday between movie, pizza and drinking afterwards. Besides that, we were expecting surprise visitors from Oklahoma! They arrived late on Friday evening, in the middle of a game with <user site="livejournal.com" user="stickypawz">. What was a one-shot game is looking like it'll turn into at least a three part miniseries, and Odis is expecting to toss even more stuff at me. I'm enjoying it so far; it's been a while since I've actually been able to *play* in an RPG. Not since <user site="livejournal.com" user="aubrin">'s game ended. I do miss Brobin. <:)
Anywho, Odis' game ended at around 3 in the morning and I crashed shortly after that. I'd tell you about it, but that would take a while. The setting is getting fuller with each session, though; Odis is great at description. :)
Saturday I hung out with the folks from OK pretty much all day. We went to Applebee's for lunch (I had a bacon cheeseburger), then went to visit Delphi at Barnes and Noble's. After that, I got my hands on a *deluxe* edition Monopoly set (with wooden houses and hotels!) and erm...broke a wheelchair. I'd tell you about that, too, but I'd rather not incriminate myself further. <:)
Saw "Pirates of the Caribbean" on Saturday and "Johnny English" on Sunday. "Pirates" wasn't *great*, but merely solid. Beyond Johnny Depp's delicious performance and Geoffrey Rush's pretty empathetic villainry, there wasn't much to write home about. I was kind of disappointed with Orlando Bloom...I thought he would have more presence than just being another pretty face. Maybe it was the part, but eh...it wasn't a bad movie, but it didn't live up to the hype. <:)
"Johnny English", on the other hand, was really funny, and sweet in an antiquated way. Rowan Atkinson loves Britain enough to completely tear down most of the conventions, and John Malkovitch fits a snooty Frenchman role like a glove. Even the freak-out was hilarious. :D I liked it, though I'm pretty sure most people won't. <:) I have pretty odd taste in comedy, I suppose (re: "Freddy Got Fingered").
Sunday was cleaning day. I did laundry, got the bathroom straight, fed 2's birds (they actually ate out of my hand!), and prepared for the Changeling game. It was much delayed in getting off the ground, and we didn't really get past much more than the set up for the main adventure, and the game pretty much ended when my computer just...cut off and my gamer took a phone call. Kind of a disappointing start to it, but we'll continue it sometime this week and hopefully it'll be better.
And so, that was my weekend! Now I'm back at work and slacking off during my lunch break. Whee. ;)
