Serendipitous
May. 8th, 2003 11:45 amHey there, all...
This morning I woke up to Nina Simone's "Sinnerman," which has to be one of the greatest jazz songs of all time. It's *amazing*. Download it now if you're able to. <:) This was immediately followed by Fiona Apple's "Across the Universe"...I never thought that anyone would ever be able to improve on a Beatles song, much less Fiona Apple, but damned if she didn't manage it. It's one of my favorite songs of all time. It put me in a pretty good mood, over all. :) I think the power of what music can do for mood is vastly underappreciated. I mean, people are affected by music all of the time, but I'm not sure folks really stop to think exactly how a song makes them feel, or why it makes them feel that way. I could be wrong, of course. I am very envious of musicians. It's amazing to me that folks can take something as abstract as sound and arrange it in such a way that it evokes a response. It's almost magic. I never ever get tired of it. :) I've been supremely tired and sore for the past week or two, and I think sleeping on a futon is taking it's toll. I might have to see what I can do about beefing up mattress support sometime. Maybe a few more pillows and soft blankets'll do the trick. Off to lunch for me!
