Hey there, all...

Random calls at work rock. :D Thank you. You know who you are.

Everyone seems to be having quite a bit of difficulty this past week and such, and I'm certainly no exception. I've got a myriad of things to bitch about, contemplate or wallow in self-pity over, but the more people around you seem to fall apart, the more important it is to maintain a positive attitude. So, here we go.

This weekend rocked! No, really, it did. :) Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] delphinios, [livejournal.com profile] 2_gryphon, Silver and I went to welcome a newfound fur into the fold. It was pretty neat to be able to surprise him at work, and he seemed like a cool guy despite being, you know, a cabbit and all. ;) I hope we'll get to see more of him, and we probably will.

Went to see X2 later in the day, and...wow. Great movie. I'm a pretty big X-Men fan, and one of my favorite things about the stories they have are the constant reinventions of happenings and characters. Unlike most folks, I think the 'new' Rogue is a pretty big improvement over the Southern bombshell. Yeah, OK, she's all goth and crap, but I think she's a lot more accessible as a character nowadays. People can relate to her situation (and her reactions to it) a lot better. Wolverine is actually likable, which is a pretty big feat. ;) I dig his 'reinvention,' too...he's not so much a walking wall of testosterone badassity with a stupid helmet now, and the tone-down has brought up his good points that much more.

My favorite character in the sequel is Nightcrawler (though hats-off to the guy playing Cyclops; you hit the nail on the head!), for obvious reasons. As much as you're tired of me talking about it, I never get tired of seeing displays of faith in various circumstances, and well...what's a more extreme circumstance than the X-Men universe? :) He wasn't preachy, syrupy or annoying, but he was devout, and I really like that aspect of Nightcrawler's character.

There's more, but [livejournal.com profile] sephebonblade and [livejournal.com profile] cargoweasel pretty much covered them in seperate posts, so anything I have to say would be a rehash.

Played a game of Trivial Pursuit with Katy and her friends Saturday night; we sucked for the first half, then I pretty much carried our team to victory. *buffs fingernails* Yeah. ;) I still probably don't know as much useless trivia as say, Xydexx, but it was a pretty neat accomplishment.

Sunday, spent the day with 2. We ate out, played mini-golf, bowling, just generally did stuff. It was cool. :) I passed out, pretty much, as soon as we got home. Or about an hour or two after that. I can't remember. <:)

I was feeling sorry for myself most of the weekend, for various reasons. One big one was getting my ass handed back to me by <user site="livejournal.com" user="duncanroo"> in cribbage. Nine times I went up, nine times I got smacked down. I'm not as good as I thought I was. <:)

Oh well, that just means more practice!
