Poetry: Fire

I don't write much poetry these days. I guess I was so happy with the way "Lavender" came out I was afraid anything I did after that would suck. But ah well, here goes.

Fire
For Sylvan

You burn
You burn
You're smooth like vanilla
You roll like the ocean
You run like the sea

You turn
You turn
You hope like a killer
You work like a potion
You catch like a dream

And when I taste
your face
I regain my faith

You're the sun
You're fun
I worship your taste

You earn
You earn
respect like the devil
You've got my devotion
You're my flaming queen.

You burn like fire.

You're scared
You're scared
Someone will be watching
You've pulled down your armor
You've let down your hair

But somewhere
out there
The world you'll be catchin
will be as cool as a sauna
and as heavy as air

But for now
watch out
don't cry or pout

your tears
your fears
will put you out

You're thin
You're trim
but you've never been
but don't you worry 'bout it
or your mind will tear

You burn like fire.

Somewhere
out there
you're as large as you dare

But here
it's clear
you're as small as you care

So no frets,
regrets,
you call off your debt
Play strip poker with your heart
Play Mah Jongg with your soul.

Go burn like fire.
