Hey there, all...

This weekend was properly restful, except for Saturday night which was the usual loud and raucous debacle that always happens. I don't think I'd know how to handle the Beatings without my room to hide in while it's going on; something tells me that I won't be making too many of them until I actually manage to learn how to drive...I'd hate to be a party-pooper, but I'm just not the party type.

Maybe I could have a Saturday night Book Party at Reah's house for the quiet minded.

Hey there, all...

The weekend was lazy; Sunday was the absolute best day ever for a really long time. Just spent the day writing and hanging out on-line (even if things did get a little hectic in the evening)...Reah came over and read a little, and we talked about stuff, her relationships, my relationships, Buddhism, agnosticism, communal living, child rearing, comics, etc. etc. It was just a really neat, laid-back conversation.

She also gave me my Yule present early...well, one of them, anyway. It's a CD from Alison Krauss + Union Station called "New Favorite"...I think it's their latest, really influenced by their success with "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". They've always leaned in that direction, but now they're getting *really* way-back with it. I think it's *awesome* that they can just take you back into deep, deep woods where there's this whole other world full of different, well, just about everything. I love it. :)

Finished "The Last Unicorn" Friday, and I was reduced to a blubbering pile of tears inside of Lenny's Sub Shop for 30 minutes. It was so sad, but really beautiful...all of the characters left the story with their own crosses to bear, but at least willing to bear them. Peter Beagle is an *amazing* writer; he's definitely one of my favorites now.

Work is going to be hard again this week, but I can deal with it. I *really* have to start packing things up this week, so hopefully I can spend a little more time at home. Writing is also pretty important; if I don't finish *something* for ??Salvation?? this week, I'm going to have 2 flog me with something. There's no excuse, especially after knowing how hard <user site="livejournal.com" user="potoroo">'s working on this. :P

Ah well, back to work.
