Die Diddly Die

Hey there...

Monday was an excellent day. I played a mini-golf *marathon* with 2 and Ryngs pretty much all day, and while I absolutely ate some courses, I did pretty well on others. I triumphed later that night with a 39 (on par 40) at Gator Golf, even playing Worst Hole Possible rules!
Life is good. :)

Before then I hooked up with 2 to discuss a (hopefully) regular RP we'll be doing, and then we saw Mulholland Dr. I'm a pretty big fan of David Lynch's absolute weirdness, and this one had plenty of it in rather tall order. Halfway in, my brain started to fragment, and by the time the Illusion Theatre place-thing scene happened, my mind snapped. I didn't realize it, though, until several minutes later. :)

Add that movie to my DVD list of things to buy. :)

Tuesday, on the other hand, sucked. I finally submitted Attempt No. 4 to TC for perusal, and hopefully I'll get a response somewhere ni the next few days. Beyond that, though, the day was horrendously unproductive. I had a 3-hour plasma donation (they were really behind, and I was apparently severely dehydrated), I finally changed the inner tube on my bike tire just to have it burst on me, the Mutants Down Under RPG got held up *again* because of the same player blowing it off, I couldn't cook my southwestern egg rolls because my roommate threw away all of the baking sheets (he couldn't keep them clean), and then I had to go to work.

Work. Let me tell you about work.

I work as a convenience store clerk for E-Z Mart. I only wish my job were half as fun as a Kevin Smith movie.

Actually, it's not *so* bad, if you have the right crew. And for a good long while, we did. My coworkers rocked for the most part, and we could make fun of stupid, drunk and desperate customers pretty well together.

Then, one manager left (the semi-evil but efficient Kim) and another manager (the inanely-evil and inefficient Kathy) came and took her place. Why we have to have bumbling evil managers, I'll never know.

Anyway, Kathy likes to feed the gossip mill. While 'office politics' generally exist, it's never been so muddled. She'll complain about every other co-worker to me, and tell me how much I rock, and then she'll turn around and call me the worst worker ever when I'm away. In addition to that, she can't keep anything in stock, she messes with my fairly stable schedule way too much, and she makes paychecks late. While the rest of this is forgivable, perhaps, the last bit certainly is not.

Now, she's screwed me out of 40 hours per week. So, it's time to start (seriously) looking for another job.

I'm tired of all the gossip and backbiting, I'm tired of doing a good job and not getting recognized for it, and I'm especially tired of giving young, spoiled bo-head assholes Marlboro Lights in a box.

It's probably a somewhat bad idea to be looking just now, even though the job market should be picking up quite a bit now that the students are leaving, but it's time for a change. I've worked there for way, way too long.

In other news, I'm going to try to get started on Attempt No. 5 today; I'll be hitting the college pretty hard for various open positions, but I'm fairly sure I can squeeze some writing in there.

Anywho, wish me luck; I'm officially hunting for a somewhat less demeaning job. :)
